Ewokee
Online therapy and appointment booking, built and still owned by us, down to the domain. No client sits on the other side of it, so this is the one build we can take apart in public.
Ewokee started as freelance work and became something we kept. By the time the studio formed it was already running, already had users, and already carried the awkward decisions every real product carries. We kept it rather than build a clean demo. A clean demo proves nothing.
The interesting part of any build is the part you would do differently.
On Ewokee, it is the data model. We shaped it around version one, then asked it to carry three more. That is the normal way this happens, and it still cost us weeks we could not bill and could not get back.
So now the model gets written down before the first screen is designed. That practice came out of this project, and your build gets it for free.
Owning it outright is the only reason this page can be this honest.
The problem
Therapy appointments fail in boring ways. Someone books, forgets, and nobody is charged for the empty hour. The therapist chases by message, the client feels bad about it, and within a month both of them are back to arranging things by text.
Ewokee started from that rather than from a feature list. Version one did one thing. It booked a session and made sure both people turned up to it.
What we built
A booking flow that works on a phone in under a minute, reminders on a schedule the therapist controls, and payment taken at booking rather than chased after the session. Session notes stay with the therapist and never touch our servers.
Every feature after the first three had to justify itself against the no-show rate.
What we got wrong
We built the calendar before we understood how therapists actually block out a week. They do not work in neat hourly slots. We spent three weeks unpicking an assumption we could have tested in a day by asking one of them.
Conclusion
This is what we point at when someone asks what we are actually like to work with. It is not the prettiest thing we have made. It is the one where we can answer every question about why a decision was taken, and that turns out to be what people want to know once the demo is over.
